Safety Programs

CPS Energy safety programs will inform your employees about the importance of following proper safety procedures around natural gas and electric facilities. Our programs demonstrate the need to develop a healthy respect for these useful yet potentially dangerous forms of energy.

The leading cause of damage to buried pipelines is the failure to call and obtain the pipelines' exact location. By law, excavators are required to notify underground facility owners before beginning construction.  In turn, facility owners must mark existing facilities within 48 hours.  CPS Energy cannot guarantee that utility lines will be at the same depth as originally installed.  So before you begin work near gas or electric lines, call 811 before you dig!

For information, such as the location of underground electric and gas facilities, temporary clearances on overhead lines or CPS Energy tree trimming service, call CPS Energy customer service at 353-2222.

For natural gas emergencies and 24-hour trouble numbers, call 353-HELP (4357).

CPS Energy offers free safety seminars for companies and emergency officials throughout the year. For additional information or to schedule a CPS Energy representative to discuss safety with your employees, call (210) 353-2970.
