Palo Alto is a new substation that will be located in the south west area near Palo Alto College just off of Loop 410. It will provide power to a growing area that is currently served by circuits from both the Chavaneaux Road and Pearsall Road substations. Initially, an estimated 15 MW of load will be transferred from the Chavaneaux substation to the Palo Alto substation.
The existing CPS Energy electric system in south western San Antonio must be expanded to serve customers’ needs for reliable electric power. The demand for electricity is increasing in the Palo Alto area and we have an opportunity to improve the reliability of electric service to our customers. We propose to start construction in mid 2012.
