Helotes-Grissom-Bandera Transmission Line Project

The western portion of the CPS Energy service area has experienced and will continue to experience dramatic growth resulting in an increased demand for electricity. Therefore, CPS Energy has planned a transmission line rebuild project that will improve electric reliability between our Helotes, Bandera and Grissom Substations. The project is scheduled to begin in July 2011 and should be completed by June 2012.

This project will consist of rebuilding existing high-voltage transmission lines as well as tower and foundation replacements. By reconfiguring the Helotes-Bandera circuit to be a Helotes-Grissom circuit, the western service area is supported with increased transmission system capacity and an additional transmission source to maintain reliable service. Additionally, rebuilding of the aging transmission line will improve the reliability and safety between the Helotes and Bandera Substations.
