	As of 4:30 p.m., approximately 2,500 CPS Energy customers remain without power following a line of severe storms that moved through South Texas this morning. CPS Energy Statement: Fukushima, STP Safety, and Our Energy Future

We, at CPS Energy, have watched with sadness as events unfold in Japan, following the earthquake and tsunami on March 11. And like many of you, our first thoughts are for the people of Japan and the need for humanitarian assistance in the wake of this natural disaster. Our thoughts also go to the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) workforce that is struggling to maintain control of the Fukushima nuclear facilities under such extreme conditions.

	CPS Energy reminds customers to continue conserving energy as the utility prepares to handle any emergency that may arise from potential snowfall in South Texas. Bexar County remains under a Winter Weather Advisory with the possibility of up to two inches of snow accumulating overnight. Snow is not expected to have a significant impact on the availability of service.

	While the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) discontinued the requirement to shed load across the state at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, utilities were advised to be prepared for a possible repeat of today’s power emergency later tonight or early tomorrow.

	Crews have worked throughout the day to restore power to customers who experienced outages as a result of Tropical Storm Hermine. The storm brushed through the San Antonio area Tuesday with winds as high as 60 mph, knocking down tree limbs and power lines located nearby.
