As holiday shopping nears and consumers search for the best bargains, CPS Energy wants to remind customers about current rebates that may help make their decisions a little easier. As part of the utility’s STEP program, which calls for a reduction of 771 megawatts in energy consumption by the year 2020, CPS Energy offers rebates for qualifying ENERGY STAR® washing machines as well as freezers and refrigerators. Rebates are also available for certain natural gas dryers, water heaters or stoves.

The following rebates are currently in effect:

• Refrigerator/Freezer – $65 rebate for recycling an old unit; an additional $35 for recycling AND replacing with a new ENERGY STAR® model. Call 1-866-472-9376 to schedule a free pickup of the recyclable unit.
• Washing Machine – $75 rebate for purchasing and installing a high-efficiency washer. Rebate should be sent to SAWS or BexarMet and postmarked by Dec. 31, 2010.
• Dryer – $100 rebate for purchasing a natural gas dryer.
• Water heater – $50 rebate for purchasing any size, make or model of a natural gas, tank or tank-less water heater.
• Stove – $50 rebate on either a natural gas cook-top or natural gas stove.

Rebates are available for CPS Energy customers purchasing qualifying products. All rebates will be applied as a credit toward the customer’s account balance. For additional details and rules, visit www.cpsenergy.com or call 353-2SAV.
