CPS Energy's Corporate Sustainability Report Indicates Strong Future

11/10/2010

CPS Energy has completed its first Corporate Sustainability Report, which details progress the utility has made toward its Vision 2020 goals.

Vision 2020 is a comprehensive plan that has and will continue to guide CPS Energy into the next decade. The plan focuses on four actionable principles: supply competitively priced electric power, increase renewable energy supply, pursue energy conservation, and maintain environmental commitments.

“This report documents for the public our commitment and path toward sustainability for our community,” said Cris Eugster, executive vice president and chief sustainability officer for CPS Energy.

As part of Vision 2020, CPS Energy plans to make significant investments in initiatives that will establish the company as a national sustainable energy leader, and strengthen its commitment to be transparent and accountable. Over the next 10 years, the utility will continue to develop a diverse and balanced approach to its generation portfolio, which includes natural gas, low-sulfur coal, nuclear power and renewable energy. The company also plans to be more efficient with its existing energy supply.

“San Antonio has the opportunity to be a leader,” added Eugster. “Establishing a baseline and tracking our progress is an important step to achieving our goals.”
