CPS Energy Reviews Response During Statewide Power Emergency

02/16/2011

In follow up to the ERCOT event of Feb. 2, during which CPS Energy customers were impacted by state-wide rolling outages, CPS Energy is in the process of completing a review of lessons learned. We are actively addressing areas in which we fell short and establishing plans to make sure that we are prepared for the possibility of any similar events in the future.

This initial summary of the event has been prepared to identify areas of weakness in our performance. While CPS Energy had problems with power plants on Feb. 2, we were fortunate to recover from outages relatively quickly, compared to plants in other parts of the state, where outages lasted days.  And once our plants were stabilized, we were able to lend support to the grid from the evening of Feb. 2 through the weekend of Feb. 5-6.

In the coming weeks, we will develop a thorough report for our customers, community and key stakeholders to identify lessons learned and outline action plans, and of course, we will keep our stakeholders informed of our progress.
